Opening: Pluck the second lowest string open (G?), then second fret,
then third fret, then the third string open and fourth string open,
then go in reverse the way you came.  Pause and repeat, but for the
last note play the low E open instead of the second string open.  It's
an easily recognizable pattern, and a bit fast for beginners, but it
comes quickly with a little practice.

[Em] [C] [D] [Em] [C] [D]

[Em] There he [C] is on the top [D] of a mount [Em] Sharing [C] biscuits
[D] with his dog [Em] Meaning [C] he, in the [D] sense of the word
[Em] As he is [D] all of us [D] here

(use same pattern)   And his dog asks him why he is alone And he replies
"well, I'm with my friends" Or are you leaving me to join in the blur
'cause I don't need you around

[G] [C] Palo [D] mar [G] what's [C] wrong? Where'd your dog [D] go?
[G] He's gone for fresh [C] meat and sup [D} plies [G] He's done this
be [C] fore   So he arrives in town an hour later As he's much quicker
on four legs than Pal is on two He takes his usual spot out back of
the butcher shop Waiting patiently for closing time   Meanwhile, back
on the mount, Palomar Is cleaning his lenses with saline water He
reassembles his kaleidescope And waits patiently for dog

Palomar Why not take this chance To reflect on things that you done did
And make it better? Why [Em] don't you just try With [F - I think] out
asking why? [D] Oooooooo....   What could be better than a room with a
view And a lovely little doggy to share it with? When he gets back we
will share in our meat There's always something good to eat.   So let's
leave him alone in his observatory And rejoin the little dog in our
story He's run off with some curr who's bearing his pups That's the
last of his tale.

Palomar What's wrong?  Where'd your dog go? Well he's gone for good,
and that goes to show you That love is thicker Than {Em] brains in
a man Or a [F - I think] dog, it's the same [D] thing....
[Em] [C] [D] (to end)   ---
